Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy involves injecting a small amount of an irritant solution (commonly concentrated dextrose) into ligaments, tendons, or joint capsules to create a controlled inflammatory response that may stimulate tissue repair and strengthen loose or damaged structures. It is sometimes used for chronic back pain, ligament laxity, or certain overuse injuries. Prolotherapy is not offered at our clinic.
Note on PRP and Prolotherapy
These are considered regenerative or “orthobiologic” treatments. While they may benefit selected patients, they are not covered by most provincial health plans, require specialized equipment and training, and have variable evidence. If you are interested in these options, we are happy to discuss your case and provide a referral to a clinic that offers them.
Important Disclaimer
Every patient’s situation is unique. During your consultation we will review your history, imaging, and goals to determine whether an injection (or another treatment) is appropriate for you.
